What is Credential Expiry for Certificates and Badges?
Credential expiry lets you define how long a certificate or badge remains valid after it is issued. Applying an expiry period helps you manage credentials that require periodic renewal, while reminder emails can notify recipients before their credential expires.
Credential expiry and reminder settings are managed from the Set Expiry option for certificate and badge templates in the Credentials dashboard.
Key Benefits of Credential Expiry and Reminders
- Flexible Expiry Periods: Choose from predefined expiry periods, set a custom expiry period, or allow a credential to remain valid indefinitely.
- Automated Expiry Notifications: Notify recipients automatically when their certificate or badge expires.
- Custom Reminder Timing: Choose how many days before expiry recipients should receive reminder emails.
- Multiple Pre-Expiry Reminders: Configure up to two reminder emails before a credential expires.
- Centralized Management: Manage expiry dates and reminder settings directly from the Credentials dashboard.

How to Set Expiry Reminder Emails
Expiry reminder emails help recipients prepare for an upcoming credential expiration. HighLevel sends an email on the expiry date and also allows you to configure up to two additional reminders before the certificate or badge expires.
Important: An expiry notification email is sent on the day the credential expires. The timing of this expiry-day email cannot be changed.
Note: Reminder Email 1 and Reminder Email 2 are optional. When a reminder is enabled, specify how many days before expiry it should be sent. After selecting an expiry period in the Set Expiry window:
- Locate the expiry reminder email settings.
- Enable Reminder Email 1 if you want to send the first reminder before expiry.
- Enter the number of days before the credential expires when the reminder should be sent.
- Enable Reminder Email 2 if you want to send an additional reminder.
- Enter the number of days before expiry when the second reminder should be sent.
- Disable either reminder if you do not want that reminder to be sent.
- Click Save to apply the expiry and reminder settings.
