What is AI Builder Workflow Testing?
AI Builder Workflow Testing allows you to test AI-generated or AI-edited workflows directly from the AI Builder chat. After AI Builder builds or updates a workflow, click Test workflow to run a test, monitor execution, and review the results without leaving the builder.
Key Benefits of AI Builder Workflow Testing
Testing within AI Builder makes it easier to verify automations before publishing.
In-Chat Testing: Test workflows without switching between tools.
Live Execution: Monitor workflow actions directly on the canvas.
AI Test Summaries: See which actions succeeded, were skipped, or encountered errors.
Easy Retesting: Make changes and select Run another test to verify them.
Workflow Testing Options
AI Builder offers two ways to test workflows, allowing you to choose an approach based on your workflow configuration.
Enroll a contact: Select a contact to run through the workflow.
Test using events: Initiate the test using workflow events.
During execution, actions display statuses such as Running, Success, Action skipped, and End. When the test finishes, AI Builder summarizes the results. You can click an action on the canvas to view its Input and Output.
How to Test Workflows Using AI Builder
Proper testing helps identify configuration issues before your workflow goes live.
Navigate to HighLevel Labs and enable The New Test Workflow.
Go to Automation > Workflows and open a workflow.
Open AI Builder and describe the workflow you want to build or modify.
Once AI Builder finishes, click Test workflow in the chat.
Choose Enroll a contact or Test using events. Select a contact or review the available test data.
Click Start test run to monitor execution on the canvas.
Review the AI-generated summary and click individual actions to inspect their Input and Output.
If needed, modify the workflow and click Run another test.
Important: Tests execute real actions, including adding tags, creating notes, and sending messages. Use an internal test contact to avoid affecting actual customers. Testing is optional; you can save and publish without running a test.

Frequently Asked Questions
Q: Why was an action skipped during testing?
Some actions may be skipped in test mode. Review the AI-generated summary to identify skipped steps.
Q: Can I test the workflow multiple times?
Yes. Click Run another test after making changes. Remember that repeated tests may perform real actions again.
Q: Does a successful test guarantee the workflow will work after publishing?
No. A successful test confirms the behavior observed during that run. Other contacts or trigger conditions may produce different results.
Q: Can I publish without testing?
Yes. Testing is optional but recommended before publishing.
Q: What if I don't see the Test workflow option?
Confirm that The New Test Workflow is enabled in HighLevel Labs and that AI Builder has completed a workflow creation or editing request.
