The platform's CPaaS infrastructure has evolved from a Twilio-dependent architecture to a vendor-agnostic, modular framework, enabling support for additional regions and providers.
Prerequisites
Before purchasing an India phone number, each sub-account must meet the following requirements:
- Business operating in or targeting India
- Valid Certificate of Incorporation (or equivalent business registration document)
- Valid GST Registration Certificate
- Active LeadConnector (LC) Phone System
Compliance verification is performed at the sub-account level. Each sub-account requesting India phone numbers must independently satisfy all applicable regulatory requirements.

Calling Restrictions
India phone numbers can only be used to place outbound calls to destinations within India. Outbound calls to international destinations will fail due to regulatory restrictions imposed by Indian telecommunications authorities.
India phone numbers can generally receive calls from international callers, subject to the originating carrier's ability to route calls to India.
Messaging Support
Messaging is currently not supported for India phone numbers. The following services are unavailable:
India phone numbers can currently be used for voice calling and WhatsApp messaging (where supported and configured).
WhatsApp Support
India phone numbers can be used for WhatsApp Business Messaging, subject to WhatsApp eligibility requirements and successful onboarding. To use an India phone number for WhatsApp messaging:
Acquire a local India phone number through the platform's Phone System settings.
Complete the required regulatory verification process for the number.
Complete the WhatsApp onboarding and approval process to enable messaging on this number.
WhatsApp approval and verification requirements are determined by Meta and the underlying provider.
Number Migration Restrictions
India phone numbers can only be transferred to accounts registered in India. To remain compliant with local regulations:
- The phone number must be registered in India.
- The receiving sub-account or agency must also be registered in India.
- Transfers to agencies or sub-accounts registered outside India are not permitted.

Regulatory Compliance

How to Activate
Step 1
Before purchasing an India phone number, a Regulatory Bundle must be submitted and approved. Navigate to: Settings → Phone System → Regulatory Bundle → Create
- Select Regulatory Bundle
- Choose India as the country
- Select Local as the number type
- Enter a bundle name
- Upload required documents:
- Certificate of Incorporation (or equivalent business registration document)
- GST Registration Certificate
- Click Update Document
- Submit the Regulatory Bundle for review
Regulatory Bundles are only supported for accounts using the LeadConnector (LC) Phone System. Customers using non-LC telephony providers cannot create or process Regulatory Bundles and must migrate to the LC Phone System before purchasing India phone numbers.
Once the Regulatory Bundle has been approved, navigate to: Settings → Phone System → Phone Numbers
- Click Add Number
- Select India as the country
- Choose an available India phone number
- Complete the purchase flow
